The EHA Lifetime Achievement Award​ is awarded for an extraordinary lifetime contribution to the field of hematology​.

The nominated person must have:

  • Made a valuable contribution to the field of hematology over at least a 20-year period
  • Shown dedication to their work and commitment to furthering the field of hematology​
  • Been responsible for pioneering and innovative work in their field​

This award was formerly known as the Jean Bernard Lifetime Achievement Award.

2025 winner

Jesus San Miguel

The 2025 winner of the EHA Lifetime Achievement Award​ was Prof Jesús F. San Miguel.

Professor San Miguel earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades–long pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and clinical advancement, which has shaped the trajectory of modern hematology.

He continues to inspire countless professionals through his dedication and vision. We sincerely thank him for his invaluable contribution to the hematology world.
